Nutrition and not chemicals is the real way to better health, you are the direct result of what you eat, we know that different countries have different health issues based on what they eat and how it is prepared. As well as the British diet being heavy on convenience foods, it is also not having enough of good foods to somehow balance the amazing amount of rubbish eaten, and most importantly the amount of what we eat, it's huge.
High fat, high calories and extremely high amounts of sugar eaten has made us a fat and unhealthy nation, and most of this is because the general public don't believe what we are told, but there is now a more open and understanding of what the human body is being put through, not as you might imagine from information professionals in our NHS, but instead from people in the complementary health care system, from people who care and people who understand that pharmaceutical drugs are not always the best way forward.
What is now known as alternative or complementary healthcare has (mostly) been around for centuries or even thousands of years, way, way before the advance of modern drugs and medicines, based mostly on money and huge profits, the pharmaceutical companies grew in Britain based on the national health system and its ever ready supply of its custom, so much so that it was (and is) able to smother traditional medicines and healing to such an extent it is now considered "alternative medicine"
There is now a groundswell of people (40% have used non NHS care) who regularly use and appreciate herbal and other ways to help them, these therapies will not really challenge our modern way to medicine, but will continue to take care of themselves and at the same time give the NHS time to work on their own interpretations.
